This session establishes the MCB Ethical Code of Conduct as a guiding framework for Peer Recovery Specialists. It emphasizes two key principles: the ethical obligation for personal wellness and recovery, and the responsible sharing of one’s lived experience. 1 CEU
Session Two: Honoring Personal Recovery Pathways and Confidentiality
This session focuses on the intersection of two critical principles: honoring a peer’s chosen pathway and maintaining confidentiality to preserve trust, as well as how they can be applied to real-life situations. 1 CEU
Session Three: Non-Discrimination and Integrity
This session explores how non-discrimination involves actively recognizing our biases to provide fair support to everyone. It then connects to the principle of integrity, which requires professional accountability to address our mistakes and maintain the trust placed in us, and how to apply this principle to real-life situations. 1 CEU
Session Four: Conduct
This session is an in-depth examination of professional conduct. It emphasizes the importance of setting clear boundaries that separate peer support relationships from personal friendships, financial ties, and other roles. It also explains why maintaining clear, consistent, and ethical behavior is essential for a safe and effective peer recovery support relationship. 1 CEU
Session Five: Conflict of Interest and Scope of Practice
This session emphasizes that the role of a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) requires strict adherence to two boundaries: Conflict of Interest, which means the CPRS must prioritize the peer’s benefit over personal gain, and Scope of Practice. Respecting these boundaries ensures the integrity and safety of peer relationships. 1 CEU
Session Six: Personal Development and Professional Standards
This session establishes that the role of a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist is not static; it is an obligation to continuous professional growth and absolute adherence to standards.
