Who We Are

The Minnesota Certification Board (MCB) is a non-profit agency dedicated to protecting the citizens of Minnesota by ensuring that certified professionals working in a wide range of professions are providing safe and competent services to the public.  The MCB is a member board of the International Certification and Reciprocity Consortium (IC&RC).

Types of Certifications

We offer certifications for professionals in the areas of alcohol and drug counseling, co-occurring disorders, prevention, clinical supervision, peer recovery, and criminal justice. One year after receiving your initial certification, you will need to renew your certification and pay an annual renewal fee. After that, you’ll move to a two-year recertification cycle. Learn more about keeping your credentials up-to-date!

Minnesota Certification Board Recruitment Announcements

The Minnesota Certification Board (MCB) is recruiting for the following open positions:

  • Board Member for the Board of Directors – this role collaborates monthly at remote board meetings to guide the work at MCB.
  • Cultural Equity & Advancement Advisory Council Members – we are seeking multiple community members to join our biannual remote council meetings to advance MCB’s work in cultural learning, training, and growth. We encourage certified professionals to apply.
